What type of help is needed?
We need individuals to assist with a wide array of activities for VOF, from fieldwork to office work to tasks that can be conducted from home. Coordinators will work with potential volunteers to find an activity that best suits their interests and availability, as well as our particular needs.
Where can I volunteer?
Volunteers will work from one of VOF’s eight offices across Virginia. Some activities are specific to an office; others cover various locations or regions. We will work with you to find available assignments in your area.
When are volunteers needed?
Some activities require a regular or frequent commitment. Others require only occasional participation. There are also projects of varying length and complexity that can be undertaken. You can read more about the various volunteer opportunities here.
What is expected of me?
We are looking for friendly, reliable people who can work with minimal supervision. Volunteers will be required to comply with policies and procedures outlined during the application process. Volunteers will also be asked to track their hours and submit logs of their activities to regional coordinators. Down a PDF of the time log here.
How do I apply?
Download, fill out, and submit our application. Once your application has been processed, we’ll add you to our email list so that we can notify you of opportunities at our offices each month. You can unsubscribe from the list any time.
Is a background check required?
We require background checks for any volunteer who wishes to perform on-site conservation easement monitoring without the help of a VOF staffer, and also for anyone who will work with sensitive, confidential information. Background checks involve a simple form that must be completed prior to performing such a task. VOF may run a background check for any volunteer if there is reasonable cause for concern.
